The investment seeks to track the total return performance, before fees and expenses, of the NASDAQ Junior Biotechnology Index. The index is a rules-based index that consists of a portfolio of the stock of U.S.-listed small capitalization ("junior") companies screened from the universe of the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index. The fund will generally use a "replication" strategy to achieve its investment objective, meaning it will generally invest in all of the component securities of the index in the same approximate proportions as in the index. The fund is non-diversified.

The fund utilizes a dynamic asset allocation approach and seeks to invest in multiple fixed-income sectors in the global credit markets, including corporate debt, mortgage-related and other asset-backed securities, government and sovereign debt, taxable municipal bonds and other fixed, variable and floating rate income producing securities. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against a combined benchmark comprised of 80% Barclays Investment Grade Index and 20% BofA High Yield Index. The fund was formerly known as PIMCO Dynamic Credit Income Fund. PIMCO Dynamic Credit and Mortgage Income Fund was formed on January 31, 2013 and is domiciled in the United States.
