NexPoint Strategic Opportunities Fund is a closed ended balanced mutual fund launched by Highland Capital Management, L.P. It is managed by Nexpoint Advisors, L.P. The fund invests in the fixed income markets of the United States. It invests in companies across broadly diversified sectors to construct its portfolio. The fund typically invests in senior loans, secured and unsecured floating and fixed rate loans, bonds, debt obligations of stressed, distressed, and bankrupt issuers, mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, and collateralized debt obligations with a primary focus on below investment grade debt and equity securities. The investment seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of equity securities of small-capitalization companies that are traded in the United States. The fund seeks to track the investment results of the Royce Small-Cap Quality Value Index (the "underlying index"). The underlying index utilizes a proprietary methodology created and sponsored by the fund's subadviser. The subadviser is affiliated with both LMPFA and the fund. The fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, if any, in securities that compose its underlying index.
