Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) has unveiled its latest AI PC architecture, incorporating a new neural processing unit (NPU) in its AMD Ryzen AI chips.
This announcement was made at the Computex trade show in Taiwan last month, followed by a detailed presentation at a recent event in Los Angeles, VentureBeat reports.

According to Vamsi Boppana, AMD's SVP of AI, the NPUs can operate AI models at 35 times the performance per watt of a standard CPU and eight times that of an integrated GPU.
AMD's AI PCs provide enhanced privacy by containing data within local networks, reducing the need for cloud-based processing.
The latest AMD Ryzen AI chips integrate 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units and 12 Zen CPU cores, and thanks to the XDNA 2 architecture, they offer 50 TOPS.
AMD's XDNA 2 architecture features 32 AI engines and 50 NPU TOPS, which supports various applications, including immersive collaboration, creative editing, gaming, personal AI assistance, and enterprise productivity.
