    Asia Markets Mixed, Europe Dips, While Dollar Advances - Global Markets Today While US Slept

    On Monday, June 10th, U.S. stock markets closed higher, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq narrowly achieving new record highs amid cautious trading ahead of an upcoming consumer price report and a Federal Reserve announcement.

    Apple shares fell during its annual developer conference, with a focus on AI integration. Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines surged after Elliott Investment disclosed a $1.9 billion stake. Diamond Offshore soared as Noble announced a $1.59 billion acquisition.

    The Federal Reserve will likely maintain the federal funds rate at 5.25%-5.5% for the seventh consecutive meeting in June, emphasizing the need for more time to ensure inflation meets targets before any rate cuts.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.18% and closed at 38,868.04. The S&P 500 rose 0.26%, ending the day at 5,360.79, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.35%, finishing the session at 17,192.66.

    • On Tuesday, Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.19%, ending the session at 39,128.50, led by gains in the Shipbuilding, Gas & Water, and Insurance sectors.
    • Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 declined 1.33%, ending the day at 7,755.40, led by losses in the Gold, Metals & Mining and Materials sectors.
    • India’s Nifty 50 gained 0.02% at 23,264.85, and the Nifty 500 closed higher by 0.20% at 21,852.00.
    • China’s Shanghai Composite was down 0.76%, ending the session at 3,028.05, and the Shenzhen CSI fell 0.87%, closing at 3,542.88.
    • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ended the session lower by 1.04% at 18,176.34.

    • The European STOXX 50 index declined 0.83%.
    • Germany’s DAX slid 0.63%.
    • France’s CAC was down 0.89%.
    • U.K.’s FTSE 100 traded lower by 0.75%.

    Commodities at 06:45 AM ET

    • Crude Oil WTI was trading lower by 0.44% at $77.41/bbl, and Brent was down 0.37% at $81.33 bbl.
    • Natural Gas gained 5.33% to $3.061.
    • Gold was trading lower by 0.10% at $2,324.70, Silver declined 1.83% to $29.382, and Copper was down 2.07% to $4.4493.

    Dow futures were down 0.36%, S&P 500 futures slid 0.29%, and Nasdaq 100 Futures fell 0.33%.

    The U.S. Dollar Index rose 0.09% to 105.26, USD/JPY was up 0.10% at 157.18, and USD/AUD gained 0.16% to 1.5151.
