Campbell's® Third Annual State of the Sides Report: Celebrating the Shared Love of Side Dishes Across America
Sides Enthusiasts Can Now Enjoy the Scents of their Favorite Holiday Side Dishes Year-Round with
Limited-Edition Candle Collection
CAMDEN, N.J. , Oct. 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Campbell's® officially kicked off Sides Season™ with the launch of the 2024 State of the Sides Report. The report offers a detailed look at the holiday side dishes and recipe trends that Americans will enjoy as they gather around the holiday table.
This year's report focuses on evolving trends, preferences, and traditions, offering fresh insights into regional variations. It reaffirms that side dishes are the main attraction at Thanksgiving for most, while also emphasizing the broader role they play in bringing people together.
"For generations, Campbell's has been at the center of holiday traditions and tables, bringing flavor to family tables across the country," said Marci Raible, Vice President, Integrated Marketing, Campbell's. "As we celebrate the third year of our State of the Sides Report, it's clear that side dishes are the cornerstone of holiday meals and memories—and Campbell's is an essential ingredient in creating these beloved dishes."
This year's State of the Sides Report reveals the nation's passion for side dishes and the ways we connect during the holidays:
- More than 55% would rather pile their plates with side dishes than the turkey itself, reaffirming that sides are the true star of the meal.
- 60% find more joy in cooking the sides than preparing the bird. Sides are where creativity shines, making them the heart of the holiday kitchen.
- Gen Z (ages 18-27) loves Mac and Cheese with 45% of the generation seeing it as their favorite side dish each year.
- Nearly 40% admit they'd be perfectly content with a plate full of only side dishes, proving that the variety and flavors of sides are what make Thanksgiving special.
- Nearly 45% crave more creamy, comforting flavors, with 38% looking forward to cheesy goodness. Campbell's condensed soups are the trusted base for many of these rich, flavorful dishes.
- Nearly 45% are joining Friendsgiving celebrations, where they can experiment with new sides and connect over shared meals with friends.
Beyond the dinner table, the State of the Sides Report examines popular Thanksgiving activities enjoyed by Americans, such as watching a Thanksgiving Day parade, playing and watching football, and even curating the perfect cooking playlist to set the mood while preparing their holiday feast.
New this year, Campbell's has partnered with CAMP, the premier family experience company, to create Campbell's Limited Edition Candle Collection: The Scents of Sides Season. The candle collection includes four exclusive scents inspired by some of the top side dishes of this season.
