Governor Youngkin Joins Ribbon Cutting to Celebrate Completion of Kinsale Center Phase 1
Kinsale Capital Group, Inc. (NYSE:KNSL) was joined by Governor Glenn Youngkin, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Juan Pablo Segura, members of the Henrico County Board of Supervisors, Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas, the Henrico Economic Development Authority, development partners, and other special guests today to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of Kinsale Center, a transformative development in Henrico, and the opening of Kinsale's expanded headquarters for its more than 700 employees.
The ribbon-cutting marked the culmination of a major renovation of the former Anthem office building at 2025 Staples Mill Road. Phase 1 of Kinsale Center delivered approximately 254,000 square feet of newly renovated office and commercial space, positioned at the heart of a larger, estimated $500 million, mixed-use project on nearly 30 acres of land formerly dominated by surface parking. The renovation transformed a 1960s-era structure into a modern office building with a striking new glass façade and a fully reimagined interior that provides a collaborative environment and will support Kinsale's continued growth and innovation. Completion of Phase 1 within Henrico firmly establishes a foundation for the next phases of the project, which envisions a multi-story hotel, upscale apartments, additional office buildings and a new parking deck.
"Kinsale's new headquarters signals the beginning of an exciting next chapter for our company. This milestone, achieved through close collaboration with our development partners and the strong support of Henrico County, lays the foundation for continued growth and innovation," said Michael P. Kehoe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kinsale. "Beyond serving as our new home, this project will anchor a larger development that brings new hospitality and commercial amenities to the community—enhancing the vitality of the area for years to come."
"We congratulate Kinsale Capital Group on this extraordinary achievement," said Board of Supervisors Chair and Brookland District Supervisor Daniel J. Schmitt. "Transforming an aging office building into a sleek, modern headquarters for over 700 employees not only aligns with our strategic Henrico Tomorrow initiative to elevate office spaces countywide but also brings new energy to the community and sets the stage for the remaining phases of the bold, innovative Kinsale Center redevelopment, reinforcing Henrico as a hub for business growth."
Governor Youngkin noted that the project underscores Virginia's competitive business environment and the power of public-private partnerships in driving economic growth and innovation. He commended Kinsale's investment, and the spirit of collaboration exhibited by the Henrico team and development partners.
