Newegg Introduces Group Buy to Reward Customers Who Come Together to Unlock Special Daily Deals
Sharing deals with friends encourages them to join to unlock deals faster

Group Buy is an innovative Newegg e-commerce feature that combines community and social shopping elements. An aggressive daily deal only unlocks if enough Newegg customers click a button to join a virtual queue. Once the undisclosed minimum number of people have joined the queue, the deal unlocks. Customers in the queue will immediately receive an email to claim the offer before the end of the following day. Customers who join after the deal has been unlocked can buy it immediately while supplies last.
Customers can check the Newegg homepage and the Today's Best Deals page daily to find the Group Buy offer and take advantage of the best Newegg deal of the day.
Because of the unusually low price, Group Buy deals are expected to be the best price available online anywhere during the offer.
Newegg created the Group Buy feature to reward customers who engage with deals on its website and app. Those in the virtual queue can click a button to share the Group Buy offer with their friends or family through social media or by texting a link to encourage others to also join the digital queue, moving the deal steps closer to being unlocked for everyone in the queue.
Each offer has its own undisclosed preset minimum queue amount. A progress bar and percentage alert customers how close the deal is to unlocking.

How It Works:
Starting at midnight Pacific Time daily, Newegg will offer a Group Buy -- a new sizable deal. The locked deal is found on Newegg's homepage and on the Today's Best Deals page, which features daily deals. Customers who are logged into their Newegg accounts can click a button on the deal to join a virtual queue. When a pre-determined minimum number of customers have joined the virtual queue, the deal will unlock and everyone already in the queue will receive an email with the option to purchase the item. Each deal has a different undisclosed minimum number of required customers to show interest to unlock the deal. Only those in the queue are able to purchase the product during the limited-time deal. If the deal is unlocked and hasn't sold out, additional customers can still take advantage of the deal.
Categories expected to be included in the offers are PC components, digital games, audio, keyboards and mice. Customers can check for the new Group Buy offer at midnight Pacific Time each day and decide whether or not to join the virtual queue.
Newegg expects to offer a Group Buy each day during the holiday sales and into the future.
