Toyota's Way Forward Fund Announces Grants to Help Support Access to Care, Injury Support for Children and Families
PLANO, Texas, March 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) today announced its fifth round of grant funding to awardees chosen by Toyota's Way Forward Fund (WFF). The grants are aimed at getting the best care in the hands of children and families impacted by commonly overlooked childhood injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
Grant awards will go to:
- Abide Women's Health Services
- Children's Advocacy Centers of Cameron and Willacy Counties
- East Oakland Youth Development Center
- Eastern Michigan University
- Orlando Health
- Regents of the University of Michigan
- UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals Oakland
- UTHealth Houston
"The Way Forward Fund is focused on raising awareness, advancing research, and helping to improve equitable access to care for communities across the country," said Mylene Mayers, group manager of Toyota's Way Forward Fund. "These grants mark significant progress in our ongoing collaboration with community and health organizations to provide essential, high-quality pediatric care."
As part of its commitment to sustainable programs with long-term impact, through the Way Forward Fund, Toyota is investing in and collaborating with the traumatic brain injury (TBI) care community to address gaps in TBI funding for children and help support health equity to strengthen the recovery journey for kids, families, and caregivers.
The current round of funding expands the focus on bolstering community resources. The Fund's goal is to serve as a connector between experts and organizations for continuous improvement of TBI care.

More than $4 million in grants was made available in this most recent round of grants and sponsorships to the selected institutions, with an emphasis on raising the quality of healthcare in communities with the greatest need.
According to National Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), TBI is a major pediatric health condition that is often under-recognized and urgent and long-term care resources for TBI are often under-resourced.
