Walmart Posts Upbeat Earnings, Joins Canada Goose, Lightspeed Commerce And Other Big Stocks Moving Higher On Thursday

U.S. stocks were higher, with the Dow Jones gaining over 50 points on Thursday.

Shares of Walmart Inc. (NYSE:WMT) rose sharply during Thursday's session following better-than-expected quarterly earnings.

The retailer reported that in the first quarter of 2025, the adjusted EPS was 60 cents, beating the consensus of 52 cents. Sales were $161.51 billion, up 6.0% year over year or 5.8% (at constant currency), including a benefit of ~1% from an additional selling day, beating the consensus of $159.50 billion, according to data from Benzinga Pro.

Walmart shares surged 6.9% to $63.99 on Thursday.

• AST SpaceMobile, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTS) shares gained 32.6% to $3.1711 as the company reported a narrower-than-expected loss for its first quarter and announced a definitive commercial agreement with AT&T Inc.
• Canada Goose Holdings Inc. (NYSE:GOOS) shares surged 23% to $14.10 following better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings.
• Magnite, Inc. (NASDAQ:MGNI) climbed 21.6% to $11.91. Needham analyst Laura Martin reiterated Magnite with a Buy and maintained a $15 price target.
• Lightspeed Commerce Inc. (NYSE:LSPD) shares gained 15.3% to $14.74 following upbeat quarterly sales.
• Trupanion, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRUP) climbed 14.7% to $32.53 after B of A Securities upgraded the stock from Neutral to Buy and raised its price target from $35 to $49.
• SilverBow Resources, Inc. (NYSE:SBOW) rose 14.7% to $37.17 after the company announced that it entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Crescent Energy.
• VinFast Auto Ltd. (NASDAQ:VFS) climbed 12.8% to $4.79. VinFast received 27,649 pre-orders for the VF 3 in Vietnam after 66 hours of accepting deposits.
• Corebridge Financial, Inc. (NYSE:CRBG) rose 12.7% to $34.00 after AIG reached a deal to sell shares of its stock in the company to Nippon Life Insurance.
• Extreme Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:EXTR) gained 10.8% to $12.02.
• NextNav Inc. (NASDAQ:NN) rose 8% to $8.08. The company recently posted a loss for the first quarter.
• HUYA Inc. (NYSE:HUYA) gained 7.6% to $6.01.
• ZTO Express (Cayman) Inc. (NYSE:ZTO) shares gained 6% to $22.67 following upbeat quarterly results
• Chubb Limited (NYSE:CB) rose 4.1% to $263.28 following an SEC filing showed Berkshire Hathaway purchased shares of the stock. The 13F filing revealed Berkshire Hathaway had purchased 25.92 million Chubb shares valued at over $6.717 billion.
• Arvinas, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARVN) gained 3.9% to $33.58. Arvinas and Pfizer reported updated clinical data from Phase 1b combination cohort evaluating Vepdegestrant.
• The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) rose 3.6% to $183.41.
• Boot Barn Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:BOOT) gained 3.6% to $113.95. Boot Barn posted upbeat earnings for its fourth quarter, but issued soft FY24 forecast on Tuesday.
